Alpine School District Mountain View High School Auto/Welding Shop
CORE Architecture has been a district-approved design partner assisting Mountain View High School with updates to their campus since 2017. This project required CORE to design a new, more efficient shop layout within the existing buildings that was originally built in the 1980’s. All the existing equipment was removed from the auto shop and the interiors were updated with paint, patching, and refinishing the concrete floors with epoxy, and new furnishings where needed. The new space has six bays with car lifts, ample lighting and power, several storage rooms, a special projects room with overhead door for access, a classroom, office, and locker room for students. In the welding shop the existing metal barriers for the welding stations were replaced with masonry and a new exhaust system was installed.
Like the auto shop, the interiors were updated with paint and epoxy coated floor. The exteriors of both shops were updated with paint. In an effort to save money where possible, existing equipment was reused.
