Alpine School District Mountain View High School Renovations

The original Mountain View High School was built in 1980. In an effort to provide a more suitable 21st century learning environment that meets the current district standards, the Alpine School District decided to renovate Mountain View High School.

Areas that were renovated included the following:

Performing Arts Area: Band, Practice Rooms, Choir, Drama – Completely gutted and redesigned to meet district standards.
Main Office and Counseling Office: Increased visibility, security and work flow.
Restrooms throughout entire school: New tile fixtures and ADA compliance.
Indoor athletics: Auxiliary Gym, Locker Rooms, Weight Room, Dance Rooms – Completely gutted and redesigned to meet district standards.
Outdoor Athletics: New turf football field, reconfigured and updated team rooms and stadium restrooms to meet district standards.

This project had significant challenges. It needed to be renovated on the current site while allowing the school to remain fully functional throughout construction. All aspects of the school, from curriculum to extracurricular activity, had to remain functional during all phases of the renovation. A design solution was needed to minimize interruption to students’ academic experience.  Working together with the School District and the CM/GC, strategic planning and coordination allowed for the various renovations to be completed successfully with minimal interruption to the academic experience of the students.
