Designing a new office and warehouse for a leading nutritional networking and marketing company has been a great opportunity for Curtis Miner Architecture.
As our team wraps up project closeout tasks on the 24,597 square foot building, CMA principal Gerrit Timmerman reflects on the design journey of research and analysis with the owner. “The building is equipment and storage-centric,” explains Gerrit. “I enjoyed learning from key stakeholders about the specific space and environmental requirements to meet the needs of their new facility.”

The building is…storage-centric
The new spaces for Unicity International include three major components: office, administration, and warehouse. Designing for different spaces and uses is something our team excels at. An inviting office space welcomes guests and provides a positive working environment for Unicity employees. The 19,436 SF warehouse layout is flexible and efficient for storage and staging areas. A clean room is where assembly line workers take the raw material and create the end product. While the clean room was designed by a design/build expert, CMA’s early design collaboration efforts with the owner and contractor helped to delineate and streamline the design process.

Given the complexity of the project, CMA has taken extra care to coordinate with the owner and contractor during the construction phase. This included collaboration on equipment questions and other constructability related questions. CMA also worked closely with the owner and contractor to create an environment that was clean and appropriate for manufacturing nutritional supplements.

The challenge of coordinating the architectural scope of work with that of the contractor was capably met by forming a strong relationship with design/build contractor Magleby Construction. This collaborative approach has helped facilitate a successful project delivery, and created an environment where the project team met the client’s goals and objectives.
