Aspen Summit Townhomes

The Aspen Summit Townhome development is located in the foothills of Provo’s South East bench at the base of Slate Canyon. The project is still under construction and is currently in phase 3 of 6. There are a total of 50 buildings planned, including 2, 3 and 4-plexes each with uphill and downhill design options. The floor plans contain spacious kitchen and great rooms with vaulted ceilings. Each unit has a garage and a small covered deck to take in the views of the valley below.

One challenge being located at the base of Slate Canyon is that the project had a complex sloped site. CORE Architecture assisted the owner by designing 6 different building types to efficiently work with the land. The 2-plex, 3-plex and 4-plex uphill buildings are on the uphill side of the streets and then in addition step with the cross slope. Likewise all the 2-plex, 3-plex and 4-plex downhill buildings are on the downhill side of the streets and also step with the cross slope.

The major benefit that resulted from CORE Architectures design solution to have the buildings adapt to the site context and maintain the existing grade was saving the owner costly earthwork expenses.  Maintaining the integrity of the natural environment lead to a successful and enjoyable project that will be enjoyed by many in years to come.
