Utah Valley University Locker Room Remodel

CORE Architecture (CORE) was hired by Utah Valley University (UVU) – Utah’s fastest growing university – to remodel the spaces for the women’s volleyball athletic department, including the locker rooms shared by the women’s volleyball and wrestling teams. Located on the UVU campus in the existing Rebecca D. Lockhart Building, the project involved remodeling approximately 5,000 total SF of space for athletic use.

The renovation includes several distinct spaces. For the home teams, there are two locker rooms with 20 high tech powered lockers each, adjacent showers and toilets, and a lounge area with a kitchenette, light boards, and televisions where the teams can study and watch films. A separate locker room and showers were designated for visiting teams. A dedicated coach’s area includes three offices, a lounge, a locker room, and a restroom with a shower. A trainer room comprises an office, one-person whirlpool, sink, ice machine, and treatment tables where athletes receive attention for injuries, and preparation for game play. Additionally, a separate 290 SF space was created for referees, with a lounge and restroom.

CORE worked closely with UVU to ensure that the refreshed space finishes are consistent with the school’s brand, including special touches like ambient green lighting at the toe kick of the lockers and ceiling clouds with the backlit Wolverine logo.
