Sandy Park Pavilion
CORE Architecture recently completed the renovation of the historic park pavilion in Sandy Park, breathing new life into this community gathering space. The update included the use of new materials and a careful renovation of the original stone, which was salvaged and repaired to preserve the pavilion’s original character while adding a fresh look. The ceiling was given a new tongue and groove wood finish, fresh paint on the existing steel structure, new roofing, metal fascia and soffit were also provided, brightening the space and enhancing its aesthetic appeal.
Beyond the structure itself, the project also involved significant improvements to the surrounding landscaping and hardscaping, creating an inviting atmosphere for park visitors. The updated grounds complement the pavilion’s modernized design, making the space both functional and visually appealing.
In addition to these updates, the pavilion was designed with future events in mind. Rough in power was provided for a future stage, enabling the park to host concerts and other community events. This forward-thinking addition ensures that space can evolve to meet the needs of the community, providing a venue for gatherings and performances in the future.
This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful design can revitalize public spaces, combining modern elements with a respect for the past and planning for the future.
