Utah Valley University Video Studio Remodel
CORE Architecture partnered with Utah Valley University to transform a standard classroom into a fully functional video recording studio—an effort that required creative problem-solving and technical precision. The UVU Video Studio Remodel presented unique challenges, particularly in managing sound isolation and acoustic control within an existing academic building.
The design focused on making the most of a limited footprint while ensuring the space could be acoustically separated from surrounding classrooms and corridors. Specialized construction assemblies and detailed coordination between the design team, consultants, contractor, and university stakeholders were essential to achieving a controlled recording environment. Through continuous collaboration, CORE delivered targeted solutions that balanced budget, performance, and spatial constraints.
The new studio plays a strategic role in UVU’s media production efforts, handling smaller-scale recordings and projects. By absorbing this workload, the studio frees up the university’s larger, high-demand production spaces for more complex projects. This added flexibility supports the university’s growing digital media needs while optimizing space utilization across campus.
With this remodel, CORE Architecture helped UVU expand its capabilities in video production without new construction—demonstrating how thoughtful design can unlock the potential of underutilized space. The result is a purpose-built studio that enhances the university’s creative output while supporting the academic mission of the College of Engineering and Technology.
